Once you arrive at the Portuguese Island, you have many options too. Stretch out on the glorious beaches – there are a number of secluded beaches a short walk from the ship, or join in some of the beach activities, like volleyball or beach tennis. The uninhabited island in the bay of Maputo is only 6km long, so easily explored on foot. Kiosks on the island serve local food and drinks – for the brave, you could try the local drink Tipo Tinto. For those wanting to venture a bit further, there are several exciting excursions that can be booked, from coral garden snorkelling, sea kayaking and dolphin watching, to a lighthouse visit or dhow experience. The nearby Inhaca Island has great beaches, restaurants and bars, as well as a market and marine museum.
